Iron is an essential mineral in which every tissue in our body is reliant on. Iron plays an essential role in the formation of hemoglobin, which is responsible for carrying oxygen from the lungs to the rest of the body.
We consume 10 - 20 milligrams of iron per day but the body can only absorb 10% of that. Of the iron absorbed 75% will go into making red blood cells. As iron is toxic to the body the remaining 10-20% will be stored in the protein FERRITIN....
