With such a positive response from the first Freedom Adventure and high demand for more, the team at Freedom Fitness organised the next outback adventure.
With a 7am start and a fresh coffee in hand, a bus full of intrepid ramblers,
excited about the day ahead, headed south to the Onkaparinga.
The morning was cold as we started trekking through the vineyards, but the sun soon rose and revealed bright blue skies. Layers of clothing where shed as we soaked up the winter sun, energizing us for the journey ahead.
Looking around we realized that we were not the only ones embracing the outdoors as we received a warm welcome from a mob of kangaroos. They seemed to be intrigued and kept an eye on us all day.
The four-hour trek took us through some of the most wonderful and diverse countryside Australia has to offer. From the serenity of picturesque vineyards to the deep valley gorge, we were consistently rewarded for our efforts.
Every so often the group would stop for hydration and to soak up what beauty the day had to offer. The lookout in particular gave us spectacular elevated views over the valley and beyond.
After the accomplishment of the hike it was time for Zina to stretch the body and relax the mind with a yoga and meditation session. Set amongst the trees with only the sound of the native wildlife everyone stretched out their weary muscles and reflected on the day.
With the lush, green valley as a backdrop there was much laughter as everyone enjoyed their catered-for lunch. A bottle of Freedom Fitness wine was gifted to all.
The surprise of the day was finally revealed- an organised wine tasting at Samuel Gorge’s Winery. Our host Mike dusted off a few of their finest bottles and lead us out into the vineyards for a tasting.
The sun was shining as we were standing in the centre of an amphitheatre of vines, wine in hand. The perfect end to a perfect day.
